On the eve of our five year wedding anniversary, Aaron and I took a minute to reflect on how we've been spending our time the last five years since being married on the grassy steps of Hastings Mill Park and this is what we came up with:
We sold an apartment and bought a house.
We traveled to Italy once, England once, Mexico three times, and Nova Scotia once.
We got pregnant twice and had two little boys.
We painted the exterior of our house and replaced all the windows.
We bought a truck.
We traveled to Vancouver Island a half a dozen times for visits to Tofino, Long Beach, Nanaimo, Ladysmith and Victoria.
I rollercoastered through the implosion of Bodog and subsequent layoff, and Aaron changed companies (for the better!) after thirteen years.
(Whew! No wonder I feel frequently exhausted!)
The traditional five-year anniversary gift is wood, and I have bought Aaron a Japanese Maple tree, to plant in the front yard of our home and watch it grow with our two boys. Reflecting over the last five years, I realize how lucky we are to have each other, and what a very good life we do lead. I am blessed to have married my best friend, and I am excited to see what the next adventure is in store for us!
I love you, babe.
