H1N1 and Fear-Mongering

I am starting to get a little pissed off over this whole H1N1 thing. It seems the government has gone and cocked it up rather well: the papers are now reporting that we not only don't have enough vaccines for everyone until Christmas, but that the pandemic is predicted to peak in the next three to five weeks, well before everyone has been vaccinated. I also understand that the various health organizations were made aware of this impending pandemic back in January.

What exactly has the government been doing with its' time?

And why do the papers feel the need to fear-monger and whip J.Q. into a mad frenzy, where hockey players are trampling infants and pregnant women to get to the front of the line for their shot?

(And really, I love hockey as deeply as the next Canadian, but when were hockey players deemed high-risk?????)

Let's all just stay calm, wash our hands and wait patiently for our vaccines. I fail to see what else we can do~!
