H1N1: It's all Who You Know

I continue to be shocked and appalled by this Government's dealings with H1N1.

On one hand, it's a pandemic.

But don't try and get inoculated! These are being (understandably) reserved for the elderly, the immune-challenged, the very young, and the high-risk.

On the other hand, it's all who you know.

I called my GP's office (which doubles as a walk-in clinic) yesterday, and they told me that if the family weren't characterized as immuno-challenged or very young, we would have to wait until the end of November.

I called today, and they told me "no problem, come on in, we have lots in the fridge."

???

Why is it that the Health Minister has the gall to get up and tell us that we are nearing the end of the "pandemic" when the majority of us still have not been inoculated against it, and likely won't until closer to Christmas, and yet if we know the 'right people' or play hockey in Calgary, we can get our shots any time we please?
Who said it was right to stir the public up into a frenzy of Purell and second-guessing symptoms, all the while being completely ill-equipped, if nigh useless at assisting in the situation?

It boggles.
