The "New Moon" Buzz, LiLo and other randomness

Welcome to the second biggest tweenie cinematic launch since High School Musical: New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight saga. Robert, Taylor and Kristen are everywhere, (and I do mean everywhere) and it's hard not to notice. Even the style pages are being influenced by our current love affair with all things undead: black lipstick and vampy nail colours are de rigeur these days...

I must admit, I have read the series (wanted to see what the whole fuss is about) but what I am not clear on is how far the producers are going to take the franchise. Any reader is no doubt aware that by the time we get to "Breaking Dawn", there is a decidedly adult content to the series, what with undead conceptions and violent births. (Still okay for your tweenies? I'm not so sure) So far I think the series has been such a hit in part due to its' chastenenss: no Sweet Valley High lip-locks and makeout sessions here. But what do they do when Bella and Edward get married? And how to portray the steamy, furniture-wrecking love scenes? I look forward to seeing how they do it as much as I can't wait to see little scrubby-faced Dakota Fanning play a mind-bending Lady Of Darkness. Should be fun.

In other news, I noticed that Lindsay Lohan is set to go off the rails again very shortly: apparently her latest deal involved walking into a bar, grabbing two bottles of expensive bubbly, drinking them, and then when asked to pay, throwing a hissy fit, and pulling a very unflattering "Don't you KNOW who I AM?" moment. Really, LiLo - imagine - having to pay for her own booze!!??! (The Horror)

Rather more newsworthy, and certainly closer to home, I have been following the Olympic Torch relay as it ribbons its' way across Canada. The latest honoree is none other than The Kid from Nova Scotia, in all his youthful hunkiness. What I have been most enjoying is Shelley Fralic's blog, which detailed the first quarter of the relay through the frozen North. This, at least, provides some fodder of depth and local interest. Check her out - it's worth the read!
