Art Class....so far

A is still responding to everything with a resounding "NO MOMMY", so in lieu of repeating myself, I decided to post a series of our Art Class projects. The Grandparents have suggested an auction - perhaps a college fund auction? We will end up with eight projects or so, thus there will be lots of fodder for eager grandparents!

Is "NO" the only word at 2?

We seem to be going through a bit of a "no" phase right now: I have heard about it from other mommies, but never somehow expected it to be quite so bad. Everything I ask A results in a "No Mommy".

"Do you want some milK?"
"No Mommy!"
(followed closely by:) "Milk, Mommy, MILK!!!!"

"Do you want to go pee pee in the potty?"
"No Mommy!!!!"
(followed closely by:) "Pee pee, Mommy, pee pee!!!"
*At which point I pot him on the potty, only to hear more "NO, Mommy, no!!!"

He doesn't want to get dressed, eat, move, or otherwise, and then pitches a fit when I say "okay", and move on to something new. Sound familiar?

Encroaching into my third trimester, I am allowing myself a glass of wine here and there, sipped slowly on a full stomach. But given the current conversation levels with my little darling, I have caught myself staring longingly at the full bottles of wine in our sideboard.

Speaking of the Peanut, he is now doing full barrel rolls, and the surface of my stomach is taking on alien proportions with the occasional elbow or foot starting to make its' appearance. We got a date of May 15th for the c-section, so it looks like I will have two long-weekend babies! Apparently we go in for surgery in the morning, so my vision of "in with a latte, out with a baby" will come true. I welcome it, and the opportunity to bury the trauma of A's birth with a fresh start. Our OB/Gyn is great - she is so matter-of-fact, with no drama, which speaks beautifully to what Aaron and I need. The last OB/Gyn crying all over my shoulder every visit was a bit more than I could take.

We are starting to short-list names, and while that list remains top-secret, we are happily taking any and all suggestions: I will post a suggestion box along the side of the blog for any and all contributions.

Best go and check on my taciturn monkey: patience, Miriam!!!!

Ahhhh, the Terrible Twos

Swimming lessons today, and I was chatting with the instructor about A, discussing how much he prefers group activities over one-to-one lessons, when he decided he was not interested in participating in the class whatsoever, and pitched a full four-alarm fit in the pool. As you know, swimming pools are nice and echo-y, and not even the pulsing beat of the aquasize class could drown out A's screams of "NO MOMMY!!!!!" You would think I was beating him, and all I was doing was floating in a pool. He kept trying to kick and get away from me, but as the depth of the pool exceeded his height, I couldn't very well let him go. Thus, more screaming. Luckily, I am at my most bouyant in the water, and was able to maneuver him around, but we sure didn't spend any extra time in the pool today. Oh yeah, he screamed his way through our shower, getting dressed, and all the way out to the car. I am seriously considering shelving lessons until there are both more participants, and a less unwieldy body to contend with. Phew.

I haven't been posting photos of the belly at all - I loved Janine's week to week review, but I guess with a two-year-old, these are some of the things that go by the wayside....although I thought I would snap one now - we are 25 weeks tomorrow, and it's all downhill from here!!! This little peanut is so active, he has me gasping at his kicks and rolls: what a gymnast! I can't wait to meet him, but in the meantime, I am making good use of the "only one child" status, and attacking all those little niggly jobs around the house that always get discussed yet never done: replacing all the drawer pulls in the kitchen, hemming and hanging the curtains, steam-cleaning the carpets~!

So here is a shot of the belly - in my darling cousin Pinty's words, some feel I look "ready to pop!!!" You be the judge
