Ah, the flowers blooming, the birds chirping, the grass growing, and the Winter Olympics?!?!

My husband cut the grass yesterday. Because it's growing. And the trees are budding. And the tulips are pushing their lush green leaves out of the earth, and the dandelion buds are making themselves known. There is already a riot of snowdrops in my neighbours' yard. And we are poised to welcome the world to the Winter Olympics in just two short days.

I am captivated by the national pride that is gripping this city. Cars are awash in gaily flapping maple leaves, those little mittens are everywhere, and the perfect storm of Canadian pride, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day is drowning us in a blaze of red. I love it. It's nice to see the country coming together for something positive these days, and naysayers, budgets and protesters be damned.

Tomorrow I will pack my little charges into the stroller and walk four blocks to show the children the torch, and to involve them in a little (big) piece of history. They will not remember it, save the digital images and Team Canada jerseys, but I think it is important to come together as a Country, and cheer our athletes on.

I can't wait.

Go Canada, Go!!!

Go Canada Go!

I'll definitely be wearing my team Canada jersey for the next 2 weeks straight haha.

It's nice that red also happens to be my favourite colour. I'm a little disappointed that I won't get to see the torch though. I'll just ask monkey to tell me all about it on Sunday!
